For how long we pollute?

Your hiking companions are respectful with the environment? During a trip, remain last in the group and you will know. If happen to squeeze behind them paper towels, chewing gum, boxes of canned, etc., then it's time to warn them and make them to be more sensitive to the environment. When you have something in your hand and you do not know where to throw it, you must know that the natural cycle of decomposition can take centuries!

Here's how long we pollute if we abandon trash in nature:

- paper napkin (2-3 months)

- an apple core (5-6 months)

- a banana peel (8-10 months)

- an orange peel (2-4 years)

- a chewing gum (5 years)

- a pack of cigarettes (10-20 years)

- a can (50 years)

- a plastic bag (500 years)

- plastic bottle (5-10 centuries)

- glass bottle (40 centuries)

- a discharged battery and randomly thrown in the woods - the amount of mercury (it contains about one gram) can contaminate one thousand gallons of water!

Unfortunately there are many who are still climbing the mountain and do not know to take the garbage (made by them) back with them in plastic bags and leave it in special places!!

These biodegradable waste (waste fruit, vegetables, food, paper towels) to degrade differently over time depending on many factors. Until this waste are natural destroyed, they are mind at least visual or olfactory One solution would be burying them in soil and leaf layer, rushing them to the end.
