Every time the Gore-Tex outerwear get dirty, you must clean it because dirt and sweat do not allow Gore-Tex to breathe. Before you clean it you have to read the instructions sewn into any Gore-Tex garment.

Gore-Tex logoTo clean your Gore-Tex outerwear you have to insert it into machine wash in warm water with detergent and let it dry on medium heat.
WARNING: do not use when you wash your Gore-Tex outerwear special soap (breathable/waterproof) or liquid soap (recommendation made by W.L. Gore and Associates, Inc).

After a while, after many uses and washes will remove the surface layer of material called the Durable Water Repellent (DWR). The DWR prevents the fabric to get wet and reduce breathability, but the DWR is not responsible for impermeability. Of course to get maximum performance the DWR is very important, so try to revitalizing the garment drying or ironing on a low setting. If that does not work try re-proofing the garment with a wash-in re-proofer.

Salt water does not affect Gore-Tex, but try to remove salt from the factory (rinse in clean water), because salt attract moisture.

For more information about cleaning, maintenance or if you have a problem with a purchased product please call 1-800-431-GORE.
