Earth Day - April 22 - each year marks the birth anniversary of the modern movement of interest for the environment.

1970 was the year that brought the introduction of fiber optics, Apollo 13, the last album the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix's death or birth of Mariah Carey and last but not least, for the first time, an event called Earth Day.

Was founded by Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. senator from Wisconsin, who proposed the first national protest related to the environment, to shake the political arrangements and to force the issue on the national agenda. It was a risky bet but went remembers.

Meanwhile, industry release smoke and other toxic substances without fear of consequences. Air pollution was largely accepted as if the flavor would have prosperity.Earth Day

Earth Day has changed all these habits. On April 22, 20 million Americans went out in streets, parks or lecture to protest in favor of a more stable environment and healthier. Denis Hayes, national coordinator, and his young team have organized massive protests from town to town. Groups advocating against the shedding of oil polluted factories and power plants, toxic waste, pesticides, loss of wildlife, they suddenly realized they had so many shared values and principles.

The first Earth Day, was leading to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency United States and the opening track for clean air, clean water and actions for endangered species.

As 1990 approached, a group of leaders that championed the environment, launched the idea of a big new campaigns and Denis Hayes for help. This time, Earth Day became an international event, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries, thus bringing environmental issues on the world stage.

Earth Day 1990 gave a big boost international efforts to recycle and helped pave the way for the United Nations Earth Summit in 1992 - Rio de Janeiro.

As the third millennium approached, Hayes agreed to the idea of a new campaign, this time focusing on global warming and clean energy for propulsion. Earth Day 2000 combined the essence of the first day of the grandeur of the earth international activism in 1990 (April 22).

For 2005, Earth Day had the Internet to help create connections between activists worldwide. Activity varied: for example a huge chain of people who went from village to village in Gabon, Africa, while thousands of people gathered on the National Mall in Washington, DC, USA.

Earth Day, sent a very clear and strong message, namely that citizens wanted the world quickly and decisively related to clean energy.

Earth Day is now celebrated worldwide as a common expression, as a public desire to build a stable society. Citizens uniting activists, this day educate and mobilize people worldwide to protect the environment. Inspire the need to act on a personal level, community, national and international.
Earth Day activities and programs, remember the promise, the desire to involve all public and social levels.

Earth Day became an annual event in many communities worldwide. Offers tremendous opportunity for some people to achieve win shares. Very often launches projects whose effect is to realize the benefits the community and help strengthen the link between community groups.

Take part in this event for our good and our children.
