Jordan Romero attempt to climb Everest at 13 years old
If Jordan Romero will succeed to ascent the Mount Everest (29,035 feet), will become the youngest person who reach the world's highest mountain. Now Temba Tsheri of Nepal is the youngest person who holds the record, he climbed the Mount Everest at 16 years old.
Jordan Romero will climb with his father and his father's girlfriend (both with experience)
His goal start at age 9 when he saw at school a picture of the seven summits and with his father help who want to make his son dream to became true, Jordan has already climbed five of the seven peaks:
- Summit 1 - Mount Kilimanjaro - 19,341 feet (5,895 m) (Africa's highest peak) at 10 years and 12 days (set up a new record on Umbwe route) - July 22, 2006
- Summit 2 - Mount Kosciuszko - 7,310 feet (2,228 m) (Australia's highest peak) at 10 years old - April, 2007
- Summit 3 - Mount Elbrus - 18,510 feet (5,642 m) (Russia - Europe's highest peak) at one day before turned 11 years old - July 11, 2007
- Summit 4 - Mount Aconcagua - 22,841 feet (6,962 m) (South America) at 11 years old - December 30, 2007
- Summit 5 - Mount McKinley or Denali - 20,320 feet (6,194 m) (North America's highest peak) at 11 years old - June 18, 2008
- Summit 6 - Puncak Jaya (Mount Carstensz or the Carstensz Pyramid) - 16,024 feet (4,884 m) at 13 years old September 1, 2009
- Summit 7 - Mount Everest - 29,029 feet (8,848 m) (the highest mountain in the world)
