Date: 18-19 July 2009
Location: Romania - Carpathians Mountain - Bucegi Mountain
First day: Ialomita Valley (Bolboci Lake - Tatarului Canyon - Glade Padina - Ialomita Cave)
We woke up at around 6.00, we want to leave Bucharest until 7.00 but some of us moved a little more difficult and departure took place at around 8:).
After three hours drive we reached the cottage Zanoaga, where we have reservations. After a break in front of cottage, we decide to go to Cave Ialomita, it's an easy route to prepare ourselves for the next day.
After a few minutes we reach at Bolboci Lake.
We had to go around the lake that took us about an hour, but we was delighted with the beautiful view offered us by the lake.
We were taken by surprise by a rain that soaked us from head to toe.
In the back you can see Tatarului Canyon where the rain started and where we sheltered for a while (but useless because we were wet to the skin:))
Right wall of the canyon, which gave us shelter
After the rain subsided, we continued the route by Glade Padina. And after the rain stoped we made a break to change our clothes, including BIBI the dog, who endured with us all the way from the cottage.
A church near the Ialomita Caves, I like this picture.
Ialomita Cave inside structure ... could not take photos because it was very dark, but is a very impressive cave
The church built right in the cavern of the cave entrance
To the cottage we returned on the same route, only faster because the darkness approached. When we reached the cottage we were very tired but very excited by what we saw.
Day two: Hotel Pestera - Cottage Babele - Caraiman Peak (Hero's Monument) - Omu Peak - Obarsiei Valley
We woke up at 8:00, we ate something and we went by car to the Hotel Cave where we started the route.
We have started to go up to cottage Babele, starting from cable car
Cristian which went ahead as usual, already encourage us to go faster
Ialomita Valley seen from half way to the cottage Babele
After an hour and a half to climb we reached to the cottage Babele in the right and at the left you can see the Babele monument.
From here the route starts to the Monument of Heroes, one hour route.
On the way we found the last piece of snow that still does not melt, even if outside was 32C
The Cross from Caraiman Peak (Heroes Monument)
On the way to Omu Peak we went through Cerdacul Obarsiei, an impressive area.
On the left we see Costila Peak
After two hours walk from the Monument of Heroes, we got to the Omu Peak (2507m)
The way back passing through the valley Obarsiei.
We were lucky that we saw Ialomita waterfall, because in most of the year is dry.
Many boulders on the road and Cristian thought to push them out of the way:))
Finally back in the hotel Pestera car park, of course we were very exhausted after a very long day and a route made in eight hours of walk and climb.
Thank you, you had the patience to read to the end,
Have only sunny days.
